Forest landowners bear an important responsibility in managing their natural resource. Decisions are not only based on the current financial value of the standing timber, but also the impact that harvesting may have on the environment and future timber values.

BWP HARDWOODS has been taking genuine care of the forest and private landowners' timber across Western PA for many years. We recognize that harvesting timber can be one of the most important decisions, both preservation wise and financially, a forest landowner can make. At BWP Hardwoods we make responsible timber purchasing a priority by establishing comprehensive guidelines for all our Timber Contracts. As a strong supporter of Pennsylvania's Sustainable Forestry Initiative, we strive to go well beyond the standards of most timber firms.

As you consider harvesting some of your standing timber, BWP HARDWOODS begins a step-by-step partnership with you to ensure that the entire process is not only satisfying, but rewarding. As the industry leader in Western Pennsylvania, drawing on training and years of experience, our qualified foresters will appraise your timber lot for you,. This appraisal is free of charge regardless of your decision to sell.

Once you reach a decision to sell your standing timber, the following steps will take place:

  • Parameters and boundaries are established for the harvest area.
  • Our forester will cruise the timber to determine total board footage and price.
  • Then a contract is drawn up and submitted to the landowner(s) for approval.

There is no fine print to wade through, our contracts are written with simplicity. The majority of the contracts span a two year period. This ensures the timber harvest can take place during the best time and weather conditions.

All money is paid upfront before harvesting begins.
